We are passionate about supporting our local producers’ & creating delicious “good honest home-cooked” meals using local meat, poultry, seasonal fish & freshly hand picked organic fruit & vegetables.

Every day, our Head chef & business partner, Chris visits the farm, full of delight, because the farmer actually allows him to choose & pick precisely what he wants for his daily menu. “A real honour & extremely satisfying” says Chris!

Our game keeper, based down the road from us in Wineham, supplies us with seasonality game & the birds are presented to us whole meaning that they are hung in our barn & fully prepared by Chris & his team on site.

“A truly hands on Chef, & I whole-heartedly believe that the best way to teach my team, is through learning all the basic preparatory butchery skills; I’m influenced very much by what’s growing in our local Countryside, land, air & sea!

“I like to teach my staff to think in seasonality because it’s so essential for the health of our ecology and frankly for optimum flavours and nutritional benefits, always best to eat seasonal produce”.

We boast our own cider barrel “smokery” handmade by our very own Chris, meaning that you can enjoy trying an unrivalled variety of different smoked, meats & fish. Chris also salts his own beef.

Our belief in the deliverance of excellent customer service is at the heart of every aspect of our business; Amanda, joint proprietor, manages front of house and through working in the US, a Country famous for impeccable customer service, Amanda too follows the “Customer comes first ethos”, to the very letter.

Our regulars, who we refer to as our friends’, follow our ever changing menus most concisely, as so many of them are real “foodies” – exactly why we opened the restaurant!
